(Music, Additional Lyrics) – is widely considered the 20th century's foremost innovator of Jewish Music. In a career that spanned nearly four decades, he composed thousands of songs and recorded over 35 albums that continue to enjoy world-wide popularity. Although his roots lay in traditional Orthodoxy, he branched out to create his own movement combining Hasidic-style warmth and personal interaction, public concerts, and song-filled synagogue services. After his narrow escape to America from Nazi Austria, he became the protg of the famed Rav Aaron Kotler. He subsequently left the Yeshiva to become the first emissary of the Lubavitcher Rebbe, helping to pioneer an outreach movement that encouraged Jewish youth to re-embrace their heritage. When his methods were seen as un-orthodox, he embarked on a 40-year-long journey in which he would personally affect hundreds of thousands of Jews worldwide. Carlebach began writing songs at the end of the 1950's, when he befriended a young Nina Simone, who introduced him to the gospel and folk music scenes. He began performing at venues like the Village Gate, with the likes of Bob Dylan, Pete Seeger and the Grateful Dead. He appeared at the 1966 Berkley Folk Festival, and opened a center in Haight-Ashbury called the House of Love and Prayer and a commune in Modiin, Israel. He appeared in Israel at the Hasidic Song Festival from 1969-1979, with an album produced each year, bringing his music into mainstream Israel circles. He traveled to the former Soviet Union in 1969 and 1989, where he became the voice of hope for Jews behind the iron curtain. From the mid-70s, he became increasingly known as a troubadour, with a constant flow stories and Hasidic teachings. Based at his synagogue on New York's W. 79th Street, he constantly traveled the globe, teaching and performing at every conceivable venue; from Berkley Fold Fest, Carnegie Hall and Metropolitan Opera, to ashrams to maximum security prisons. He as frequently seen performing midnight concerts under the West Side Highway for New York's homeless, many of whom he knew on first name bases and supported with his last dollar. Since his sudden death in 1994, his influence continues to increase. Today his melodies are the mainstay of Jewish services and wedding celebrations and have been embraced by many faiths as universally accepted spiritual music (Pope John Paul II, led his Mass in NYC's Central Park to a Carlebach melody). He influenced and inspired many popular musicians, including Jewish R&B star Matisyahu, who describes himself as "a mixture of Bob Marley and Carlebach". Often credited with helping to revive the Jewish spirit in the aftermath of the Holocaust, a Jerusalem Report's Readers Poll voted Shlomo Carlebach among the 100 Greatest Jews of the Millennium.

As an international producer, recent original productions include the International tour of Rent, 42nd Street, Blues Brothers, Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber and The Monkey King throughout Japan, Russia, China, South Korea, Taiwan, Singapore, South Africa and the UK. He brought the first Broadway production to Russia (42nd Street, Moscow 2001-2002); produced the first Broadway musical in China in a joint production with the China Ministry of Culture (Rent, 2005-2007 featuring the Broadway cast); and several international jazz, music and theatre festivals, including the international tour of Chuck Berry's 50 years of Rock 'n Roll. He is artistic director of the Philharmonia Europa which recently completed a two-year sold-out North American tour of The Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber, starring Michael Bolton. He produced The Gathering on Broadway, starring Hal Linden; and a new musical comedy based on Anton Chekhov's The Seagull for the 2005 New York Theatre Festival (with the Russian composer Alexander Zurabin and American director Lewis J. (Additional Material) Began studying theatre and dance at the age of 5 in Toronto, where she performed various theatre roles for 7 years while studying classical singing. When she was 15, she debuted in concert with legendary father, the late Rabbi Shlomo Carlebach, continuing to perform alongside him for five years throughout the world, including appearing with him in a German National TV special in his native Berlin. Neshana and her father recorded a duet album together, "HaNeshama She Shlomo", completed just 2 weeks before his sudden death. She immediately took the bold initiative to assume his extensive, already-scheduled concerts. Neshama soon met her musical director/producer David Morgan, formed her band and launched a solo career singing her own interpretations of her late father's melodies as well as original songs. For the past 13 years, she has toured extensively, appearing on concert stages throughout North and South America, Europe, Russia, South Africa and Israel. She was honored by the City Council of New York in 2002 for her contribution to life and the community of the City of NY. Neshama has released 5 CD's of her father's music and her soon-to-be-released 6th album "One and One" is all original music in English and features the Green Pastures Baptist Church Choir.
